These are the best shoes I've ever owned. I feel like I could stand on the wing of a Cessna while it's flying, and make flapjacks at the same time without even thinking of how my balance is doing.

blisters inside every toe and vegetation constantly getting caught in the toes makes them not so great for backpacking

Yes this could be annoying. And not the best for moist terrain.
Still I really like them. Also have a Merrel Vapor glove for everyday use mostly because it's wearable with normal shock, those five finger shocks cost a fortune.

That's really cool. I'd like to try them for wildlife photography. Being a poorfag who prefers to travel light, I don't really have the option of a bigass telephoto lens like the pros use. Maybe these would give me more good photo ops.

right on. the studies available now are all short term and don't see much of an association between heel toe drop and injury rates but it always seemed like something that was more of a long term benefit to the knees and hips so i'm eager to see some studies that aren't propping up the strawman that minimalist footwear will reduce injury rates in the short term just so they can attack it and defend boomer shoes

The thing I don't understand why orthopedic doctors don't recommend minimalist shoes and foot training. They always go with this insole which supports the arc. But a foot shouldn't be supported under the arc. On a healthy foot the arc doesn't even touch the ground. I used these insoles for years they even wanted me to use a steel one but I thing they make things worse. Maybe the corrected foot posture good for the knees but the same time it doesn't help the foot.

take the roman style cowboy boot pill, these are the best hiking shoes you could buy instead of $120 toys from china, get some real american leather boots with a metal shank for about $10 from goodwill or some other thrift shop, ignore chinese shoes

memes aside, europoor here, those are not common at all, but how do you walk 10-20 miles in them in the forest, hills, etc.? Basically not flat clean plane?
I guess they are great for waking in the mud field all day, but that heel and the flat front - it looks to me its going to hurt after a while.

my favorite hiking boot the thorton mid. have dunked my foot in many streams and came out bone dry. don't even feel boulders, rocks, or roots sticking out of the ground. comfy and warm at higher elevations, icy cold streams, wind, etc. wish timberland stop making urban hiking shoes and went back to full grain leather

I've had these asolo neutrons for a couple years now and they put everything I've previously owned to shame. Unbelievably durable. They're fairly rigid and very supportive. Gives me a lot of confidence over rough terrain.
