Gregory released new backpacking packs

Around 2012, Osprey started making its AG series of backpacks. AG stands for Anti-gravity, a reference to its brand of suspension. It’s a large net that spans the entire back of the pack. Rather than the back panel riding directly on the wearer, it’s suspended by netting, creating a gap that keeps their back cool and dry. And because this netting is somewhat elastic, it forms to the wearer, reducing pressure points. Most people who use these packs swear by them, hence the Osprey fanboys.

The company has some pretty faggy marketing, which is probably why they get so much shit, but that suspension style really is great.

Well supposedly the patent Osprey had on this suspension type has run out. Gregory just released a new line of packs using something very similar. They even delved into a light weight model, comparable to the Exos (which is a weird niche between actual ultralight packs and more traditional packs).

If the patent thing is true, I’ll bet before the year is over we see other manufacturers doing the same thing.
