I dont know, whenever i went to Anaconda i got a sense that i was either picking lower quality or getting ripped off.
Especially so with Kathmandu and their generic $300 a piece hiking gear.

Only way to guarantee a good deal and good quality is online. Typically the local shit ill actually want needs to be mailed in from a different state.

I worked for Kathmandu as a 3ic. Their products are on average absolutely shit.
Macpac completely cums on them, and yes I worked for Macpac as a manager.
Macpac of had it flaws but the only time you should buy from them is when they have %60-70 off or the outlet store.
They mark up their shit 80% on average. Kathmandu is pure China shit stitching and I can’t count how many times I dealt with a return in Sydney.
Macpac rarely had returns or faulties. Main culprit was (((((Solomon))))) GTX shoes shitting their Goretex membranes.

Since the great normie migration to the outdoors, their prices have shot up to comparable with big name brands that have access to better fabrics and longer testing time, therefore make lighter and better products. Better to look for other brands on sale or second hand imo. Decathlon is now only cheap for a few specific items like their underwear, fleece liner gloves.

Decathlon's hunting brand, has had very little of the post-covid attention from normies, and their prices remain very low for very high quality gear. Their backpacks are bomber, light and well made, their clothing is really robust with good features and comes in neutral colours, and it all has a great warranty and price. Not the lightest but still a solid choice.

idk, 2 or 3? Agreed, it's still good, but if I were to buy another similar jacket I would spend £10-20 more and get a named brand one or a second hand one, as the weird fit is quite annoying and tight around my shoulders and it doesn't have any perks like hydrophobic down, decent aesthetics for daily wear or factory DWR

what did you smoke? Forclaz and Quechua sell 3-in-1s that hold up to -10°C or bomber Jackets that hold up to -20°C for 140€. You are not getting that price anywhere else. You can pretty much gear yourself for winter hiking/trekking for less than 300€. What other brand stores can you do that. And the quality is still pretty decent. I have stuff from them bought near 5 years ago that are still as good as the first day.

Yea i figured my instincts were right that they just stuck their label to shit. Unfortunately the high prices seem to be universal, hence its still down to picking gear on reviews and seeing which local retailer is running a discount on it.
Mind you even thats not enough, im importing half my shit from the US cause its cheaper to pay for US shipping on some quality items than deal with the leftovers that make it to Australia.
