Titanium vs Steel stoves

Is the titanium being almost half the weight of steel worth it being less than half the strength?
and will it matter for a stove that gets really hot?
There is a company that makes pic related in both a steel or a titanium option.
Looking for a simple lightweight versatile stove

I like both, but I've had 2 titanium stoves that have cost more than steel ones and have crumpled and bent out in the field. I prefer 2-walled steel stove

Wouldn't the gas bottle itself outweigh the weight savings?

Because, young grasshopper, versatility and multi use is a high prize on a trip. Wood stove is good because it's a multipurpose item, and you'll be glad you have it if you run out of fuel.

Combined with a good alcohol stove it mogs gas
Alcohol benefits:
>burns in low temperatures
>can adjust how much you bring, no need for canister on short hikes
>silent burning
>uses grain alcohol too if you can afford (multipurpose)
>lower temperature, better for cooking
>more readily available in parts of world
>can bring the stoves on carry on luggage fine
>make one for free from any can (look up a fancy feast one, uses carbon felt, use a tuna can for a larger one)
>super compact if it nests

The downside of alcohol is that it requires a windshield. Foil windshields work fine but are delicate. Therefore, why not take something a little heavier but multipurpose - a wood stove, for instance. Here's one that nests with your pot for $3 from ikea + a couple tent pegs (or wire)

It's a glorified potstand, and when all you have is small twigs you just make a regular fire. Its a fucking zero purpose item!

Yes, it's multipurpose
Sometimes you need a pot stand for your alcy stove
sometimes you need a windshield for your alcy stove
sometimes you need a way to efficiently burn a small amount of twigs in a concentrated area with a stand
sometimes you don't want to make a fire pit and burn the floor
sometimes you want to make a small fire with a windblock

This is the kind of inexperienced aids "one size fits all" attitude that redditors and newfigs tend to have. There are many reasons to use a fire stove, which is why they are an enduringly popular item with consistent sales and many DIY designs.

yeah, very efficient design based on the solo stove / bushbuddy, but I'm inclined to go with a simple one wall design. I don't need mega efficiency when burning sticks, and I think the whole wood-gasification is kind of a meme as you get gassification in all combustion anyway.

I would love titanium if it meant they could make it thick and ultra durable heirloom, but instead they force ultralight so hard that most of it is still fragile.
Snow peak, Keith titanium and a few others are decent. It changes temp to environment really fast but is horrible for cooking as you will need a lot of oil on food surface or else it sticks.

Yeah, welcome to the outdoors. I just wrap whatever I cook on in a thin napkin to keep it from wiping the soot off and from rattling around. Win-win.
