What’s everyone using as a map app?

Inb4 map and compass. I use a paper map as well, but pulling my phone out of my pocket and quickly glancing at it is a pretty nice luxury, so please try to keep the Luddite autism and Uncle Ted larping to a minimum.

I make geospatial PDF’s using Forest Service maps on CalTopo. The areas I like to explore are sometimes fairly large, so I need more than the 5 pages they allow for free. That’s an easy work around; just save 5 then start over. But the app won’t let me import anything saved locally on my device. I have to access them from my account to import them into the app, so I’m limited to five maps. I might have to break down and spend $20 a year, but I’m hoping I won’t.

Avenza is limited to three. I like it because of its simple user interface for basic functionality. It can do a lot, but all I want is just a dot showing my location on a PDF image.

Paper Maps (that’s the name of the app) was my go-to source for a few years but now it doesn’t work in airplane mode, so what’s the point? They also added a lot of stupid crap to it, like cached background maps that you can’t get rid of.
