>>2315741Yes, that is where I have had most of my luck too. Though, with that strategy I usually only find smaller ones.
>>2315743>How do you find the sheds?Walking. A lot of walking. Especially in area where the deer have been.
>are they usually in the area that deer are? or are they usually found in the winter ranges? In my experience they usually are in the area where the deer have done their winter grazing, which is typically in the lower elevation areas. But I live in a substantially different climate than south west BC so winter grazing habits might be different there. Typically the older and larger bucks shed first and so would shed in their winter grazing areas more frequently while the smaller bucks can carry their antlers a lot longer into different areas.
>is it a good sign that deer will be in that area come hunting season again?I actually don't hunt deer (to kill). I just hunt sheds but I know plenty of hunters who treat shed hunting as a way to stake out the movement of the local deer population for their upcoming hunts (to kill).
Also, south facing slopes are typically a good place to look for antler too since deer like to hang out in the areas that get sun first.
