Which is both practical and effective? Multi-Layering cotton clothing (i.e. Sweatshirt over T-shirts, over a tank top) Or just one thick wool sweater and a undershirt? Pic unrelated.

Cotton won’t let you breathe very well if it becomes wet. I’d recommend wool/cotton/wool/leather-shearling-fur outer.

Holes in either are easier to patch and blood is easy to wash out of clothing. That way when I should you from hundreds of feet away and take the clothing from your corpse when SHTF I have more clothes to choose from.

I say wool. Base long sleeve thermal layer , followed by a wooly pully or a Pendleton. Cozy.
