Is it impossible to find a high quality spout lid bottle that doesn't immediately mold to hell? I love having a bottle I can open and drink from quick with one hand, but cleaning this thing is a bitch and I have yet to find a good alternative with an easy spout lid that isn't either some cheap plastic product or has terrible insulation.

Why thick plastic? Whether it's an ultra thin budget water bottle, or a Gatorade bottle,.Nalgene or a hydration bladder, it needs to be cleaned before sitting empty for long period of time. Thicker material doesn't change the cleanliness interval. Shits gonna start stinking. Doesn't matter if its 0.5mm or 2cm thick of plastic. That's just durability, slamming the bottle on rocks and being squeezed by your tent pole and stoves

The answer to your question is there is no good solution. Bacteria will get into and grow in every nook and cranny. Reducing complexity will reduce the nooks and crannies. A single lid is as simple as a bottle can get.

OP, you should look into aspertox. We use it in beer making to disinfect our stuff. You could use bleach but your material might react to it. Bleach also needs a heavy rinsing where aspertox doesn't.

I use one made by zojiyushi. It will keep cocoa/tea too-hot-to-drink in 0°F for at least 6-8hrs. Easy to clean, spout comes apart and goes into the dishwasher.
