>>2353202I live near the woods with coyotes and I walk with my dog out there every day. The coyotes have never been a problem, they just want to be left alone. If me or my dog was attacked by one I would be prepared to protect us, but that has never happened. Coyotes are only as big of a problem as you let them be, and going full exterminatus on them only makes the problem worse.
People are quick to forget that the US government one time used their extremely big brains to make the coyote species illegal, and they eventually had to drop the law because it was impossible to actually drive coyotes to extinction even with the might of the US government's most brilliant political scientists tackling the problem.
When the species is threatened they respond with more rapid breeding which means that if you try to exterminate coyotes, you end up with even more coyotes than you had before because the parents are expecting most of their pups to be killed.
If you either put up a fence around your property where you and your pets live, or you keep your pets on a leash and supervised, coyotes will not be a problem. Or do you expect wild canines to go to the town hall to find out where your property line is whenever they're out looking for their next meal?
