Why is the survival advice not just "Walk downhill until you find water then follow it out lmao"?
I get that that might be useless advice in a remote desert, but it feels pretty useful for every other context.
On a coast I guess that could be modified to "follow the coast until you reach people lmao".
I feel like it gets really overcomplicated with insane shit about staying where you are and also finding a cubby hole to hide in to stay warm. Which doesn't work, afaik. I knew a guy whose brother died doing exactly that (staying put, getting in confined spot), after having called emergency services on himself.
Also, why does no one give fire starting advice where you use your glasses or a lens of ice to make a fire? Surely that's practical.
