Nylon dries quick and is fairly durable.
Stay away from Columbia ones they're absolute garbage, but most brands are pretty much the same.
I like zip offs, but they gotta have the zip well above the knee.
Bring rain pants to put overtop, with full side zips or at least to the waist.
If it's cold, put on some long johns or start moving faster.
