Please recommend a good, and cheap windproof jacket/fleece. Pic related is from Decathlon and claims it's good to wind speeds of about 18mph

Honestly does any soft shell jacket have much of a difference?.

Also the benefit of a pure fleece is its breathability. Its perfect for intense workout in cold windy weather

First of all, fuck decathlon

Beside that, those windproof fleece things are horrible for being active, doesn't protect from the wind well and doesn't breathe well (you get sweaty and you get cold), kinda good only for just being out when you don't want too many layers on, if you plan on actually being physically active go with a normal fleece and a breathable top layer wind breaker.

And just in case i wasn't clear about that FUCK DECATHLON.

Yeah, I just wanted it for hikes and to admire the scenery. I essentially wanted a fleece that won't get too wet in some drizzle, and to block out some wind when I'm standing still, having a drink, and sarnie.

Just get a softshell with a polartec lining. You're not looking for a fleece.

Two reasons:
1. because they suck in general, only things Dickathlon was good for was some sale on actual brand stuff they had and cheap iron (at least where i live)
2. they refused to stop trading in russia (but were forced to after they had supply problems, most reputable brands don't want anything to do with rushits right now not to crap on their branding)

I have it, it's good and warm. But the fit is kind of weird, especially the neck area and sleeves, so try it in a store if you can. But other than that, as I said, pretty good jacket

So it's a good jacket then? I work at decathlon, precisely in the mountain sports department, and that is... surprisingly a hiking jacket! Recommended for hiking, and not for "being active". It was your own fault using an inadecuate tool for the wrong job.

picrel is the carhartt rough cut jacket. i use it for skiing and moderate rain. it isn't 100% windproof or waterproof, but it is cheap, durable, and keeps me warm
