What sort of guyline setups are you guys using with your tarps?
Split or continuous ridgeline?
What length are your guyouts?
Just bough 100’ of pic rel, am I retarded?
Planning on using it with line-loc hooks and some 1/8” shock cord tied through the grograin loops as auto-tensioners.
Should I use shock cord on the ridgeline too, or make it a static connection?

If you have to ask…
But really, I got away with wire pulling line (which it turns out hates UV) harbor freight mansions line (broke only once when I pulled too hard on a truckers hitch) for many nights. In the end I went with 1/8 amsteel because that’s what the marine supply place had, and it also could be used in a life supporting role (eg a structural ridge line)

I’ve had good luck with using a shock cord double prusik to grab some slack in the guyouts, that way your fancy dude rich man’s cord isn’t relying on poverty shockcord to connect to your tarp.

I’ll probably stick with a split ridgeline since my tarp is 70D and has good stitching.
It’s a 12’ tarp and was thinking of using 15’ pieces of that cordage on each end so I know I won’t ever have to use anything to extend it.
My hammock suspension can get pretty long.
I got that cord cuz I wanted something reflective that doesn’t absorb water, and this isn’t that much more than Reflect It, while being almost twice as strong.
Shipping from Canada kinda sucked tho.

I though about trying to make Dutch’s internal tensioner into a continuous loop and use those instead of pure 1/8” shock cord loops, but I kinda like the idea of a planned failure point, and am not sure if the line-loc hooks would break or not before the tarp rips

The shock cord is to automatically take up the slack in the lines that results from a silnylon tarp stretching/sagging somewhat when wet.
It also adds some give to the system if your buddy drunkenly stumbles into your lines, potentially saving something from getting broken.

I’m using separates for my ridge line, each one 12’ long, 1.75mm Zing-it with tarp flyz. I was just tying knots when I was using paracord, but I switched to zing-it because it’s less bulky and doesn’t stretch. Tying knots in 1.75mm cord turned out to be a little tough when it’s cold; that’s why this hardware exists.

For the corners it’s the same line with self tensioners like this pic. I’m thinking of adding lines to the side pulls. I’d use two separate 6’ lines that run from the pulls on one side to a single pole, and another 6’ line that runs from the pole to a stake. So I’d carry six 6’ lines for that set up and only use it if it’s really windy or I’m feeling fancy.
