I'm not a huge fan of gore tex but if you want to give a try to my usual treatment for leather boots it goes like that: clean thoroughly, then clean with moist towel, let dry fully, apply pure glycerine or glycerine rich cream generously, let sit over night, whipe off the excess, let it all soak in, when dry to the touch apply high quality shoe wax, leave it alone until it dries, buff off with soft brush or coarse towel.
It's a lot of work but only the clean and wax part needs to be repeated on as needed basis, the glycerine soak is a once a year (twice if they are used heavily) thing and i see it both making the boots more comfortable, better with moisture and longer lasting (less cracking over time).
