>>2346851People really don’t understand the heat in Louisiana.
>leave the house early for work one summer morning>6am, and it’s already hot>not warm. Hot.>day gradually get slightly hotter as the sun comes up>leave work at 5, sun is 2” from your face>the heat kicks you right in the scrotum sack as soon as you step outside>go to the gym, leave… still scorching hot>swing by the grocery store, head home, eat, relax, do laundry or something>9:30, getting ready for bed>oh shit, forgot to put the trash on the curb>sun has been down for an hour and a half and it’s still scorching hot, only now there are giant flying roaches running around>you can feel the heat radiating from any paved surface>this cycle continues for a solid 5 monthsThere’s no reprieve. There are no cool fronts or storms that bring a drop in temperatures. It rains often but then it’s just hot and wet, like a steam room at a spa. The temperature rarely drops below 77, and that’s usually around 4am and accompanied by 100% humidity. It’s just gross heat for months. Every house has a/c (the really poor people and renters have window units; if you buy a house there’s a 98% chance it has central) and they’re on for months straight.
>just moveI did, a few years ago, but it’s really hard. If you live there, even if you’re doing well above average, you’re still basically poor in a national level. It’s such a terrible place.
