I hunt, fish and forage, from spring to fall and my grocery bill falls drastically, even counting gear costs. That said, I eat catfish, carp, and anything I can legally shoot with bow or rifle. Stuff that lots of people turn their nose up at (nobody eats carp or catfish around here) is great eating if handled and prepared correctly. Invasive species with no seasons or bag limit? pass the salt. The parts I dont eat get turned into bait, I dont pay for that shit either.
