>>2350516I dont know about carrying survival kits while camping
A while back I put together a kit of miniaturized redundancies to be carried in a fanny pack in the event of some kind of scenario where im separated from the rest of my gear
>SOL emergency bivy>DIY tarp made of an SOL mylar blanket/gorilla tape tie outs>6mil 60gal drum liners>mosquito head net>mini bic>fresnel lens>uco storm matches>victorinox huntsman with a firefly ferro rod >cordage for the rain fly >mess tin>mre hot water bags>stream light micro stream and some AAAs>silva mini model 544915>36x36 bandana >jet scream whistle (fucking hate that thing but cant find anything louder and/or more compact yet)>best glide ase signal mirror (gets switched for inferior but floating SOL/AMK signal mirror on trips where i know i'll be on the water)>mini sharpie (i dont even know why man)>first aid components ibeprofen, asprin, triple antibiotic etc (not my actual first aid kit)>gorilla duct tape, a heavy needle, and some 50lb spider wire on a knockoff exotac ripspool that I 3D printed>"100%" deet spray pen >aquamira frontier straw (it sucks no pun intended)>fishing kit to handfish for panfish and set trot linesAll in all, this thing is a 3lb brick of overkill & redundancy
i cant imagine being separated from my pack in such a way that i couldn't recover it, and/or that I couldn't easily just extract myself from due to the fact that you cant get more than a few days hike away from roads/people in this day and age, barring some serious injury
If you're that far up shit creek an IFAK to buy you some time and & an emergency locator beacon would be of better use.
Anything that doesn't warrant either is less a life or death survival scenario and more like... "unexpected camping against your will" until you can hike to a road.
Despite having all that in mind, this fucking brick has a hold on me like the ring of power had over Gollum and I cant leave it behind.
