>>2350937I use the FDF model. Yes, I am Finnish and I know there are lighter options available. I just like it.
>>2353754Well, those foam pads are used for insulation, not comfort. The Finnish army sleeping mats are 12mm thick and they do their job well enough. If it is very cold, then in the army we used to cut down spruce branches in to an extra insulation layer. It does wonders. One reason for the spruce branches was to make sure that the snow/ice melting due to the wood burning stove doesn't make our tent floor wet. But anyways, if you sleep on a forest floor, generally the 1cm foam pad will be comfortable enough, given that the forest floor is softer than concrete.
>>2353615The foam pad works, you just learn to use one.
>>2353588How prolonged periods are we talking about? I sleep the hottest month of summer every year outside, in a tent on my FDF foam pad. I've had no problems.
