>>2351696Generally, in a National Forest in the US, you can camp anywhere that’s 200’ from the nearest path. Rules regarding campfires change with the weather. You’re not allowed to cut down trees, and no one is coming to clean up after you, so pack out everything you bring in.
As for finding trails in your area, Facebook hiking groups are your best bet. They’ll often be localized to your state. Or just do a lot of Googling. AllTrails is pretty good as well. Of course anything that’s easier to find information on will have more visitors.
