I get where you're coming from, but it comes off as ignorant, naive, and mildly offensive to say you can know what homelessness is like by choosing to do it. The whole thing about being a hobo is the emotional trauma that comes with being forced into survival mode 24/7 and never being able to trust anyone. It's incredibly isolating, I didn't tell a soul I was homeless while it was happening, I had a storage unit and a job. I kept my appearance cleanshaven and not-hobo looking because people would treat you better if they didn't think you were homeless. You can't know the pain of asking to stay at a friend's house, and then getting kicked out by their screaming girlfriend the next morning because "were not a homeless shelter". Everytime you ask anyone for anything they think you're a leech, despite it being the toughest time in your life.
So politely, go fuck yourself. You CANNOT understand by choosing it.
