Is walking the Trans Canada Trail starting from Calgary and ending in Charlottetown a retarded idea? Yes, I know it's a retarded idea, but is it feasible on a small budget (2k) to do through the spring/summer? I only have basic trail experience in things like river fishing, foothill dirtbiking, small amount of time in the mountains etc. A lot of shit I'll need for the trip I already have but here is a short list
>backpack
>water bottle
>foam sleep mat
>sleeping bag
>small pillow
>lighters matches etc
>pan and grill
>kindling hatchet
>swiss army knife
>collapsible fishing rod and basic tackle box
>tarp tied to top of backpack
>2 sets of very light breathable clothes, 2 sets of warmer clothes
>gloves, hat, balaclava,
>waterproof trenchcoat
>wallet, keychain, cellphone, solar charger etc
>soap, first aid, sunscreen etc
>tiny tent in tiny bag attached to backpack
>bear spray
>buy a weeks worth of food everytime I pass through a town/city
That's all stuff I have already. What else should I buy and what else should I be aware of? Somebody suggested trekking poles to me but I never used such a thing. Is it better then a regular old walking stick? In my ideal vision, it would be a wonderful fishing adventure through back country, staying in quiet idyllic places as well as various pit stops through civilization to restock and enjoy the various sites. Once I got to charlottetown I would be near family as well so the return trip/aftermath is not an issue. It sounds fun and I want to do it. Should I go alone? Bring a bicycle or something? Come in and shit on my idea
