It’s a meme as in 90% of /out/side enjoyers don’t really need it and are better off with civilian bags that prioritize ergonomics etc. That being said, it’s definitely worth it if you’re serious (see: larping) and the price justifies itself almost solely by not being some made in China consumer-watermill crap. Either way just buy used bags, so many city folk will be duped into buying high end bags only to use them once on some Instagram pilgrimage.

Good thing about them is that they don't loose their value quickly and there is still demand for them, so I bought mine for ~ 180 euros in sale and sold it for 170 euros. So, even thought I fucked up, it wasn't that bad.
Also, less MOLLE and few more pockets would be nice (e.g. on Jaakari M)
