For my kids. I think lots of /out/doors time is crucial for healthy childhood development. I also enjoy it myself but I still take them /out/ even when I'd rather not.

As for OP - I go out because it's enjoyable, but also because the stillness and natural order is both therapeutic and educational (spiritually I would say).

It's the only healthy hobby (to my knowledge) that isn't overly competitive or overly repetitive.
My anxiety surrounding competitive sports makes them utter agony and I find lifting/running/swimming really boring.
But by going /out/ I can get exercise in a way that actually accomplishes the goal of making me more relaxed, happy, and productive.

I just like nature and being outside, especially by myself. I also started getting more confident when hiking and camping alone. The voices in my head stop when I'm in nature and it takes a day or two after getting back for them to start again, but then I'll just to out again.
