neat thread idea. I paddle board fish 3 times a week, have been doing so about 2 years now.

the main disadvantage is that they are slow and will get pushed around about by wind and chop, especially inflatables. you sit higher on a paddle board than on a kayak and that creates more wind resistance. Yes, they do make "touring" sups that can go pretty fast, but those are usually too narrow to be any good for fishing. Although, if conditions are calm enough, the speed difference is not too bad, and the paddling is a full body workout.
the other disadvantage compared to a fishing kayak is lack of storage space. with a good kayak you got compartments, rod holders, etc. With a sup you pretty much just got the straps on the deck. some get creative and strap on coolers or milk crates though, but a kayak can just hold more stuff.
