hey there /out/, my mate and I are thinking to have a wild camping trip for 3-4 days in norway this summer, around august.
We're looking for general tips (gear wise, please do not be autistic and push memes onto us).
We were thinking about visiting Borgund (~230km NW of Oslo) and hike from there to the closest fjord, but if you have suggestions about some other place equally distant from Oslo any suggestion is welcomed.

No, we hiked a lot, we can walk with a lot of weight, I did multiple hikes with 15+ kg on my back for multiple days up to 10 wild camping. This time around we are planning on hiking lighter and for 4 day, in Norway.

Olden/ Loen is really nice, skåla and kattanakken are nice hikes, would also recommend the glaciers. Galdhøpiggen is also very nice, tallest mountain in Norway

Keep in mind that it can snow even during summer. Don't underestimate the weather in norway, it can change within an extremely short window. You're probably not gonna listen to me anyways but have fun learning the hard way. But please don't visit us, we don't want any outsiders, thanks.

For real though, all the advice so far is pretty accurate. Bring bug juice, and no matter what you think, you're gonna need to bring woolen clothing. Whatever weather you didn't prepare for is usually what you get.

Lots of experienced hikers have to be helicoptered out each summer, and I'd hate to be THOSE guys. Are you absolutely 150% sure you are up for it? Otherwise, do a guided tour.

Same guy here, one more point. Bring two compasses, get the proper maps, make sure you're a beast at navigation. It can go from clear sky to total whiteout in seconds, and there are many steep drops. Do not rely solely on a GPS, instead get that extra compass for when you inevitably trip and break your primary one.

Can't suggest much about wild camping. But last year I hiked along the Rallarvegen from Geilo to Flåm and it was very fun. You can camp away from the main road if you dislike people, but still close enough to not get lost. And if you ever feel like taking the train you can. Once you get to the fjord there's ferries and buses.
If you are a philosophyfag like me there's Wittgenstein house to visit in Skjolden.
