Doing something that makes you happy influences your character also, you become less of a suspicious, obnoxious kind of person when you have something satisfying in your life, your brain gets used to thinking more positively and so you will be more apt to see other things in a positive light. This begins to radiate off you and people will tend to avoid you less.
I warn you though, you can't go at this kind of thing with the consumer mindset of "I did 5x walk for 2 weeks and didn't feel any different!", you don't 'pay' however much time into it and receive a fixed reward, if you try and force the experience you will miss it.
