>>2381543when I was in my vagabond phase I was hitchhiking in Oregon and decided to get let off the interstate in a place called Drain, OR so I could cut across to the coast faster. Thought the distance between drain and the next down was 3-4 miles and started walking down this winding narrow-shouldered highway. Ended up walking like 12.5 miles in the hot sun, fucking up my feet from my shitty shoes, running out of water, and mercifully getting picked up just outside Elkton, stopped for water, and the dude drove me all the way to Brookings.
Those 12.5 miles were my remarkable journey... and I slept on the beach that night and it was beautiful.
