Reminder - if you're clean shaven, you're no outdoorsman.

Just don't shave for 6-8 weeks (or 'style') then take it from there.

I hope you don't think people in the army shave just to look badass. They do because tons of people who go /out/ regularily and live together in sometimes poor conditions will lead masses of these things to come. It's for sanitary reasons.

I stop shaving my pubes when I get ready for a long outing. For some reason, shaving regularly makes the area easier to irritate, especially if I can't fully shower regularly. Dunno why, the body is fucking weird.

Maybe because you're fucking up your skin and giving parasites and dirt easier access? Oh, and since we're on the topic of health: I never do a "serious" shower or bath before an outing. The last thing I need is to lose my beneficial cleaning bacteria crew. A quick cold shower, then I'm ready to go. Full-body soap and shampoo and whatever would just make my body an unguarded smorgasbord for less benevolent bacteria, not to mention how my secretions won't be cleaned up. Never go full clean before an outing if you plan to go for more than a few days without shower access.

But I do, 50% German 50% Swiss with a good jaw line and nice facial features. I just prefer to wear a beard. I only like shaving it off in the summer and keeping it trimmed. I can't stand having a baby soft face. I look too young like that.

As a snow-sports/backcountry enthusiast I had thought that having a robust beard would be some awesome insulation for my face. I found out that it's really not fun to have ice in your beard and that being clean-shaven (save the soul patch) and wearing a balaclava or gator mask is much preferred and more comfortable.
