I just bought small farm. I've lived in city all my life but now I have 3 small fields to grow something myself.

What to grow?

I value
>easiness
>nutrition
>taste
>value (price if bought)

Tools available
>Stihl MH585 cultivator

I've just barely moved in and there's ton of things to do and learn so easiness is the main criteria.

I live in northern hemisphere and we got warm (15-20+ celcius) months only June/July/August and maybe September.

What do you suggest?

Chickens are already planned, maybe a goat to make cheese but that's it, haven't planned more than that.

Yes, planning on getting 10 chics and 1 rooster. Doesn't really solve what I'm going to grow in the fields though.

Why? Goat milk tastes like shit, but goat would be easy to handle, cheese tastes fine and is great nutrition wise.

Lol, no the act of making cheese. Soft cheeses are one thing but anything hard is more annoying than making alcohol yourself by a very wide margin. You have to buy presses, cloths, everything is very precise and time consuming. Other than a few soft cheeses, it simply isn't worth getting into. Consider bee keeping instead. Selling raw local honey is easier and a better cash crop. You can spread clover and graze a couple steer on a rotation. Follow the beef with your chickens and they will eat the maggots out of the cowshit and the eggs and flesh will taste better than feed. Bees will pollinate wildflowers.

Also by easy to handle I also meant it takes less time and effort than having a cow for example. Also, as I understand, single goat provides around 1000L of milk yearly without need of pregnancy each year. Not sure how right this is.

I manage my own online business so that's my income and this small farm is just a place to raise a family and possibly provide some healthier food choices to the table with small effort. Wouldn't want to raise my kids in a city these days desu.

Don't have an instagram acc and planning on deleting myself from facebook soon.

Goats are a PITA, but not to the level as sheep. Sheep are Satan's personal pet. Goats cause more trouble, but sheep just actually are trouble. So much more maintenance, their feet are always rotting. They will literally just overheat and die if you don't sheer them.
One thing I like about goats is that they're so extremely goaty. The milk/cheese, meat, even just the goats themselves just smells exactly like goat. And they're just pretty tasty all around.
Goat milk does in fact taste like shit by itself, I like putting it in recipes though. Real nice.

I've thought about it quickly, but at least still now I'm in very lucky position where I'll keep getting almost passive income from my online business so I don't really have the need to make small bucks with this kind of stuff and honey is not something I'd like to eat everyday. I'd assume one would need quite big bee farm to make decent living out from it?

Thanks for the tip regarding the cheese making process, haven't really looked into it, just assumed it wouldn't be that complicated. Anyway first I'm planning on getting those chickens, I might skip other animals for now before I get settled in better.

Really, how's so? I've heard completely other stories. Also someone told me you don't really need lawn mower or trimmer if you get a goat.

Lol. Both are escape artists. But goats take it to another level. Also, sheep are literally dumb as bricks stupid. A goat is not nearly as stupid. Makes them adapt to new environments better, also makes them wily. They're vocal and destructive too. Because unlike a sheep, they're smart enough to get bored. But I'd say they're friendlier too. But yeah.

You should also never just get "A goat" they're social creatures. Usually they like groups of at least 4, but generally more. People who use them for casual lawn care generally get a mini variety so they can have more goats. Partly because tax law in most states doesn't make a distinction between a mini and a full size goat, and because they're just happier in groups and you can fit more in a smaller area.

Hard to say. That can happen sometimes. A false pregnancy called a cloudburst usually due to hormones. But can always ultrasound them to confirm. Sometimes when overly surrounded by lactating females even the males can start lactating. They're very hormone sensitive. Any feeding changes lately?

You're overselling it desu. Sheep can make trouble but they aren't that much of a bother once you get used to managing them. Maybe if you're trying to raise a breed from the north of Scotland in the Mississippi Delta you'd have these problems.
