>>2386343OP, check out things like the Platatac Peacekeeper and the Velocity Systems Gen IV chest rig. Or if you want to go more modular, the Crye Airlite chest rig has the best harness system for distributing weight, but you'll have to buy MOLLE pouches to go along with it. The advantage to that is you can purpose-build it. There's also the Nixiworks LiteFighter rig, which aims to be a modern take on an ALICE rig setup. A jungle belt kit such as the Velocity Jungle rig might also accomplish what you want, but it's more of a belt setup than a chest rig. The main problem you'll run into is most gun mag pouches are pretty purpose-built so fitting other things into them might be a pain. But there are medical kits that are made to fit into mag pouches, and Crazy Peak Designs makes a mag-shaped insert for other small items.
Personally, I've tried running just a chest rig during backpacking/hiking, but I ended up preferring to use a lighter chest rig in addition to a small (20-30L) backpack. It's easy enough to throw off the backpack when you take a break or need to break contact, instead of being loaded down with 20+ pounds of gear right on your chest.
