Flashlight is nice and all but you could get a good head lamp and good hand light for the price.

Get a real compass and real thermometer. If you really think you need it buy a cheap metal whistle.

Backpack is good.

Well I already have a decent head lamp and crankable hand light, and recently started reading up on high quality flashlights, for both hiking and long term edc. Plus it's got a higher lumens setting so I can temporarily blind any windigos I encounter in my trips. Would you still advise against it, and if so, any cheaper but still good quality flashlights of a similar caliber to recommend?

Just fully understood your question the second time I read past it, it's a bungie, or camade, that you just feed the cord/cable through to keep the line nice and taut when you need it to, but also allows some slack when you want it too. Basically it just helps keep your cord in place, and it wasn't much more expensive with the bundle, so I figured I'd go for it.

Osprey makes good backpacks, but if you want to do overnighters, you need to make sure all your gear will fit in it. 44 liters may be a little tight if you have a synthetic sleeping bag and/or large tent, or aren't efficient at packing and choosing gear in general.

No. I don't even know how you found that. If you want a super bright LED, Streamlight makes a number in the $40 range, although I do not recommend this kind of light for camping. Get a headlamp so you can actually use your hands. Imagine unpacking your backpack and setting up a tent in the dark. Are you going to hold the thing in your mouth?
I use a Petzl Tikka XP, which was about $50. Whatever you get, just make sure the low brightness setting will last 20+ hours, and you're good to go. Odds are, you'll use it on low brightness 90% of the time around camp. Most of these flashlights are designed to work for 200+ hours on low power these days, so there shouldn't really be an issue unless you make the mistake of getting some off-brand junk from Wal-mart.

Those tiny compasses are very hard to use, and if the bubble in them is too big, they can actually be impossible to use. If you want a compass, get:

The Silva Polaris is standard issue to every Boy Scout, and has everything you need for basic map reading. That other multi-tool thing might work as a whistle or thermometer, I don't know.

The only intelligent thing you posted was in the flashlight category. Please refrain from posting ever again because it's hardly constructive.

OP everything on your list is fine, including the osprey backpack. 44L is plenty for overnighters.
I recommend the black diamond storm headlamp over a regular flashlight, it's what I use and I can say with experience that its waterproof, has a great battery life and all kinds of cool options including red light, strobe, single full beam, and dual beams.

That underquilt is all synthetic. On closer look, it seems that Hennessey doesn't make underquilts, but all the hammock campers I've seen all use down. I may not be into hammock camping, but I have plenty of experience with sleeping bags to be able to say that a $100 synthetic quilt is going to be bulky, and won't have a long lifespan. The reviews are also so-so.
If you're offended because I said that I don't have experience with underquilts, especially ENO underquilts, then you can go choke on about a thousand cocks. People NEED to disclose when they don't have experience and are still giving an opinion. It's when they don't disclose this and give an opinion that we run into problems (see: most of the opinions written on this board).

Hmm.. Except I do know. That's the point of the thread. Make judgment calls about the OP's gear. This isn't a love-fest where we reinforce OP's opinions and beliefs and make him feel good about himself because the world is a warm and fuzzy place.

Anyway, little compasses like that are nearly useless when they do work, and when they don't work they're completely useless. It may or may not work - I doubt ANYONE in all of 4chan has used such an obscure and useless piece of gear. The point is this, though: why don't you tell me, from your vast outdoors experience, how you would use that stupid little thing with a topo map to navigate? I'll wait.

I'd suggest checking out a hammock forum, or at least do a few searches on whiteblaze or backpackinglight and see what other people are using. I've read through a lot of it, and although I've developed some familiarity to brands, I've never seen anyone mention ENO, which doesn't really mean that it's bad, but it doesn't mean that it's necessarily good either.

They sell this exact same thing at walmart in the camping section for a couple bucks. It looks identical.

I bought it for the whistle/back up compass to throw in my hunting bag. Its okay as a cheap whistle but as the other guy said, buy a dedicated compass.
