This is the third movie thread this week but instead of bitching about people not checking the catalog i'll just C&P my post in the other one-
>Paddle to Seattletwo guys who met while hiking the AT make their own kayaks and paddle from seward, through the inside passage to seattle. it's a light and fun doc, not very long and you can rent it for like a buck on amazon instant video. Also available is their earlier doc about bike touring from seward to barrow.
>The "walk" series-Walk, Still Walking, Even More Walking, WalkedOver the course of several years, Scott "Squatch" Herreiott takes to the PCT and interviews thru-hikers, people who work on/around the trail, and eventually finishes the whole thing piecemeal. Also on Amazon instant.
>Red GoldAn independent doc about the proposed open-pit mine at the headwaters of Bristol Bay, Alaska, breeding location of the world's last great run of wild salmon. the footage was re-edited and used by PBS for a frontline episode from last year that can be viewed here:
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/alaska-gold/Frontline added some more up-to date info and did some more filming but the original is incredible and you should try tracking it down. DVD's are expensive but I found it at the local library when i lived in portland and maybe you can find it at yours.
