Anyone here ever try to convert an empty lot into a park or community garden or similar community oriented space?

There's an empty lot near my house, area is pretty run down, blighted, would be nice to make it less shitty here. It's owned by a private individual.

I figure I need to contact the owner, already found them on facebook. But I need a plan on what I'd do with the lot and I'll need some sort of either community support or funding.

Check where the sun is throughout the day, sure
but largely not so much
if the owner says yeah you can build a farm on it but only the third of it on the street side, then your plans are messed up
if he says sure but the middle has to be clear because he is going to park a boat on it, then your plans are messed up
know the quality of the area first definitely, but know the actual workable boundaries of the spot first
Anything else is just looking up your home on google maps and drawing roadblocks and which house you would reinforce for some zombie survival larp

This. I do some work for a guy who does urban farming, looks for people with unused lots and offers them either produce or money to use the land. It's shocking how many people say no. Even my neighbors who know us well and him and who go away all summer every year to Greece say no because they just don't want anyone near their property. Ask first and be friendly, otherwise don't waste more effort.

OP here is a retard child but you should look up how adverse possession works in your state. It is almost impossible to pull off tho, in many states you have to actually pay the property taxes for a number of years to gain adverse possession.

You should really be doing some research on blight and talking to the County.

If anyone gets injured the farmer is on the hook. Never in a million years would I let some random fucker have his way with my property. If the property owner is interested in something like this he would have created a conservation easement with the local government.
