Also blisters equal slipping or rubbing.
A wider boot/ shoe generally allows to alleviate most of this.
Having five finger socks with rubbery bits on em, whilst separating the toes goes even further. The top of you foot where al the veins are gives off the most heat so a thin mesh type construction works best.
Nylon mixed socks are the most durable, aim for 35-40%.
You can apply this to merino socks, as they have dynamic heat regulation. If the sock is hot the fibers open up, cold they close up. Works good for keeping you cool and dry. 100% Merino or wool socks are shit and will open up holed very fast unless your shoe/boot fits perfectly with no slide or slip.
A 30% blend of Nylon or would be ideal for winter.
