Anyway. I've smoked just about any animal from any smoker. I personally prefer the propane vs the electric because when I smoke a piece of meat I like to watch it and babysit it, and you should be doing this anyway for the most part if you want to make something good. I like re-filling the soaked wood chips manually and keeping an eye on the meat temp; which matters more than the smoker temp. Electric, sure you can set it and forget it, but you're also fucked if there is a power outage. I just think the smoke is 'stronger' with soaked chips vs pellets. You can also get more creative on some of the nicer new Traegers or bigger ones. Currently I just have a pit boss.
I would just shop around OP. Also check out craigslist. Its not that fucking complicated. You just need heat, chips, and a few shelves if you wanna go cheap.
