I did some amateur spelunking while backpacking Southeast Asia. The landscape is riddled with caves, so it's just a matter of picking one and going for it. Aside from one paid expedition that went several kilometers deep, I went alone. They were pretty walkable though with relatively flat surfaces, which I suppose get a lot of water flow during the rainy season. I took several lights and batteries as that's all I really needed. Wore jeans but otherwise minimal clothing for crawling through some wet tight areas. I loved exploring though, and if you want to give yourself a bit of a panic attack just for the thrill of it, turn off your light and close your eyes. Listen to the drip of water and immerse yourself mentally in the deep dark bowels of the earth for several minutes. Then open your eyes to the blackness. Anyway, I'd love to get back into spelunking but with some proper gear and more gnarly caves, but I am currently stuck in a place without many caves. Pic is similar to a cave I stumbled upon randomly just walking through the woods.
