>>2427299>Shoe boxThis always meant a plastic one right? Surely not a paper one. I've never seen a shoebox that wasn't made out of cardboard, and that seems like a questionable container for field capacity soil
>1qt spawnRegarding this, what's the difference between using, say, .5 qt and 2 qt? I imagine it's that the more spawn you use, the faster the colonization, and the faster it colonized the less chance for competing organisms to grow, but I never found a source that said as much

What kind of grain spawn have you been using? I like whole oats because of the availability, and I watched a video (I think it was boomer shroomer) where out of a few grains used, whole oats worked out really well. That said, I'm beginning to think they absorb a shit ton of water because I'm noticing in my spawn bags, the bottoms collect a bunch of water. Been thinking of adding some verm into it to soak it up, but I'd rather fix the problem in the prep stages. Either letting them soak too long or not drying them long enough.
Thanks for the help btw. I'm pretty confident that making the flow hood is going to be worth it to me. On top of really enjoying growing mushrooms over traditional plants, actually eating them has become more enjoyable to me than getting drunk by far. After experimenting with GT doses for a bit, I found that I'd rather just take 4g on a saturday and watch tv while being in good spirits and laugh my ass off while having no side effects instead of going to all the trouble of getting drunk. Don't really get anything spiritual out of it.
