Hello /out/

Hope things are well for all of you.

I am wondering what US states have the best balance of /out/ and cost-of-living. I would like to live very modestly in order to save up money, but I also really want to have a comfy house surrounded by nature. Nothing too fancy/grand, just small and cozy.

Pic related is from Ha Giang Loop in northern Vietnam. Currently there on a 3 month trip, it has been god tier so far.
