i shower with that dr bronner peppermint soap in the morning when i'm doing outdoors shit and it'll make em fuck off for around a day.
longer trips i'll bring a little vial of it. you can drink it or rub it on your skin.
lots of skeeters in both states i hike in, never have a problem with them since i discovered how good peppermint works. just don't tell everyone local about it, the reason it works so well is other people don't use it. in areas where skeeters are used to deet/bug spray they won't be accustomed to peppermint.
