Hello, I'm a newcomer to this board just trying to learn the ropes. Can someone post an infographic or Youtube link about the best way to roll a sleeping bag and stuffing it inside a pack without it taking up more than half of the space? Thanks

Impossible in most cases, it's rolled up tighly on the production line in a way a human can't really do it with just his hands.

If it's possible, roll it the same way it was rolled when you bought it, and practice.

Yeah don't roll it, stuff it - the fill will last longer this way too. Depending on your pack you might still have a lot of dead space around it though, in which case just stuff it into a large dry bag instead, that way it will fill all the available space.

grab handful of sleeping bag
shove it in compression sack
repeat until the entire sleeping bag in in compression sack.
compression the compression sack.

also,
don't store it in the sack at home. unpack it and hang the bag in a closet or some where out of the way.

I don't even do this. I roll it in a waterproof onatop of muh pack, and yur tent typically being heavier secures best with those 2 big straps hanging off the bottom, you get a pack of the proper size for however long you humpin.

Another thing to consider is terrain difficulty. If I'm in difficult terrain, I try to put my center of mass lower. And when I'm just hiking in plains or whatever, I put it higher because I don't need the balance so much.

that's why I prefer internal frame packs. the weight doesn't have to sit as high in order to keep it loaded on your hips. if you are going up steep hills for a long time in an external frame then you can move the weight a bit lower but, not that much. there is no good reason ever to hang heavy stuff at or below hip level.

Same here. Generally I found that your arms also have more freedom to move with an internal frame pack. Though I haven't used that many externals.
