anyone ever try the Naturehike Star River? wanted to get the BA Copper Spur but even used ones are crazy expensive so the Naturehike seems like the next best poorfag option. Will mostly be using it for 1-3 night backpacking trips in the PNW, so water resistance and enough room to stash gear inside is key.

While it looks decent that tent is extremely heavy. A higher price of that type will weigh around 1.8-2.2 lbs

chink tents aren't really worth it if you're in america. you can find used cottage brand tents for like 100 or 200 that are better all day long on reddit. if you want to keep it closer to 100 maybe look for a 1p tent. if you're acting like you can't find a good used tent for the same price as an aliexpress tent you're not looking hard enough, or be a little patient or post a wtb on the plebbit gear trading boards.
when that's not an option, like for aussies and eurofags then chink tents make a lot more sense.
most of the lower priced $200 cottage brand tents brand new tend to be a better buy than the $150 chink tents if you're in america, and most of those tents you can find lightly used for a little over 100.
i'm more of a 1p trekking pole tent kinda guy otherwise i'd tell you exactly which model to buy. if you can live with one of those just get a used xmid or a used lunar solo.

it's definitely on the heavier side at 2.1kg - 2.3kg depending on which variant OP buys, but for 1-3 day trips I don't think the weight is much of an issue.
