Looking for tips from any anons with surf fishing experience in Florida to share some knowledge. In August ill be in SW Florida and im looking to try some surf fishing. ive never done it before and all my fishing knowledge is limited to freshwater Bass fishing. Im thinking a 9ft medium heavy rod with a 5000 size reel would be a good general use combo but im not sure. Also what type of fish will swimming the surf in August on the gulf coast? ive heard Snook are prominent that time of year but what else is in season?
