Anywhere on the North American West Coast north of San Luis Obispo has a beautiful combination of both, and so many distinct regions too: you've got Big Sur, then the Northern California Redwood Coast, Oregon's Coast with its rock formations, Washington's desolate beaches, and the Canadian fjords. I guess a lot of the mountains aren't quite on par with the Sierra Nevada or Cascades, but they're nice none-the-less.
That said, gun to my head, I'd pick mountains. The beach is nice and all, but there's only so much you can do with the ocean, though I do appreciate its vastness and the simultaneous serenity and tumult of it's aesthetic quality. There's something really interesting about how it's so violent and powerful when you're wrapped up in it, yet it's repetitive and calming when you're viewing it from a far.
Yeah, I'm gonna cheat and pick the coast regions I mentioned earlier.
