Better than a scrap of plastic flying away and being part of the nature for the next century. Most of what you bring home and put in the green recycle bin ends up in the general garbage pile anyway- and many places dont case the bottom with concrete and suck out the leeching cancer liquid that builds up- so it goes down into the earth.
Better to let absolutely all of the trees and plant life around you help filter that black smoke than to let the ground water and soil reap the consequences.
