Can we get some ideas for DIY alternatives to camping/outdoor gear? Any ideas that save money are welcomed!

I have found that budwiser aluminum bottles work the best for alcohol stoves.
Look at garage sales and pawnshops for metal tools, stuff like a puttyknife can be turned into extra kitchenware ect for a cabin shelter sorta deal.
Read the backwoodsman it is basically condensed poorfaggory/woodsrunner advice available bimonthly at alot of local stores.

box wine bladder for air pillow, and can be jurry rigged into a cammel pack. stolen forks/spoons are the utensils i use. dollar store plastic bowls and plates wook well for us poor fags. cheep metal water bottles work well. get creative most things can be reused.

It all depends on what you're looking to do. There are a lot of things you can "diy" that are actually really bad ideas. You can DIY a buck saw, but you're better off with a $9 12in bow saw.

You can make a pretty good food dehydrator out of a box fan and some furnace filters. That way you can start making your own backpacking meals instead of buying prepackaged stuff.

Looking good man. I use one of these myself, cooks as well as any stove I bought, fun to put together. Also instead of pots and pans I bring a couple of disposable cooking pans. I wouldn't recommend it for bear country though.

TL;DR: I want to add the pic related in my old/cheap backpack.

I have an old 30 bucks pack that I've been using since 2006 I think, and still have life in it.
But I'm looking to make it "better" by adding shit to it.
Does anyone have a webpage or a source to find the right materials and the correct sewing technique so I don't fuck it up further?

For this it said that all you need is 2 cans, cut in half and both bottoms put together.
Poke holes through one of the bottom bits.
Soak some insulation batts or cloth or whatever you can get your hands on in rubbing alcohol and there you go.
