>>2407469>1lb of venison costs more then 1lb of wagyu beefI could honestly see this being true if you don't have your own land- especially for out-of-state hunters (my state fucks them over pretty hard on the price of a hunting license).
My local processor has outdoor freezers so you can drop a carcass after hours and it works out to about a buck a pound.
So if you wanted to go out for the first time:
>$500 for a rifle.>$100 for ammo.>$250 for license/training course.>$100 for processing.>$50 for the hunting club membership to hunt on their land. You just paid $10 a pound for venison.
In reality you're going to pay more for a rifle, more for a hunting club membership (you can hunt on public land for free but have less chance of getting a kill). Plus hotel for the weekend and probably 3x the gas price.
So $20 a pound is more likely.
In comparison:
Already have rifle.
Already have land with deer. (Bait pile 100 yards from porch/kitchen window- legal in my state).
Clean the carcass in the garage.
So 100 pounds of venison cost me $1.17 (cost of a single hollow point .308).
