I hike around the range land of the 509 mainly along 34 along the river. It's such a beautiful landscape golden grass cast about like a sheet in the wind. The hills can be a pain but getting through them as satisfying. There are a seemingly endless number of valleys that form due to the hills that go on for a few miles that you can explore. For the most part they always connect up with some sort of ranch Land and usually have abandoned cars on them and some litter. Thankfully I haven't seen anything too threatening other than snakes. But turkeys and Hawks are common deer are very few and far between. The biggest menace I say are ticks and the Indian population. Lots of interesting stones to collect.

ah yes, wallula gap. warehouse beach isn't far off, pretty fun cliff jumping out that way.

i grew up in milton-freewater (like 15 minutes from walla walla). it's not eastern washington exactly, but harris park (south fork of the walla walla river, outside of MF) has some pretty good mountain biking and hiking.

Death valley, Joshua tree, other CA deserts, South Utah, North Arizona, Sedona, and shit like that. A couple walks in New Mexico.

I find the same shit as always. Snakes, bones, tweekers, and trash. In south Utah you'll run into some hot chicks. Sometimes Sedona.

The eastern half is beautiful out in the desert. I know that it has issues but out in the sage is pure please. The wide open range holds the soul of the pioneer. It's a place like no other.
The fact that it's governed by a punch of Puritan types (mentally) it has hurt the potential and soul of the state. If your not born up here I don't see the appeal of coming to live here aside from being a detached urbanite, least that's the trend now.
