Do you think you will reach a point where your bones get too old and brittle and you won't want to camp anymore and will give up and stay in cabins? I'm middle aged now and I don't know how much longer I want to keep sleeping on the ground.

I use an inflatable mattress when I camp. It's small and lightweight enough.
Overall I prefer staying in hotels. Camping is mostly for broke teenagers, college kids, and unemployed/underemployed losers. I did a lot of camping in my youth, but prefer comfier accommodation now that I have a lot more money than I did then. Nothing like a hot shower and plush bed after a long day in the outdoors. I only camp on multi-day backpacking journeys anymore.

you and i may know how great rural living is (not a cabin here, but standard 1700sq ranch style house from 2019 on some acreage)

Most of the time it's just a lockbox with a code they give you and you don't really need to talk to them let alone meet them. Or sometimes if it's crappy enough they just leave the key on the porch or in the door. To be clear, I'm talking about renting a whole apartment or house with them, which is an option.
