I think tevas are much more comfortable. I've had a pair that lasted 5 years or so and am currently on my second pair. I use them for day-to-day walking around but also to hike down rivers in the smokies.

+1 Teva. I sheared a big toenail off before a hike. Luckily I brought the Tevas and was able to do a 9 mile hike. I made it back with them all sticky with blood, but I wouldn't have been able to do it if I only had my boots.

for those who hike in sandals, don't you constantly get pebbles and grass in your sandal and have to constantly fish them out or take them off to clean?

I only get them when going downhill. it does get occasionally annoying, but not so bad I'd want to give up wearing sandals. I tend to wear my sandals loose which probably contributes to catching dirt.

Always a lot of tree roots and rocks with plenty of hills around me. Are these sandals any good for someone with high arches? I generally get a shooting pain when in flip flops for too long and sick of boots. Got heat stroke the other day so trying to drop some layers

sandles are for girls. get some good hiking boots man. i had some that were water proof and had thick tread, i felt like i could go anywhere. walked on gravel or through water no issue

I wish these didn't look so gay, as I'd like to get a hiking shoe or sandal made in the US. And I don't say that lightly. I can tolerate Tevas or Chocos, but those are too much.
