I have a problem bros. A family of these guys burrowed under my porch and have made a den there. There are 4 total, a mother and her three babies. I have seen them every night for the past week.
My question is how do I get rid of them? I don't want to poison or kill them, but I can't think of a way to remove them without getting sprayed.
What do?

I'd rather not kill them if possible. I will if necessary but they haven't really caused problem yet. I'm just worried that my dog or I will get sprayed if we walk out there at night and don't see them.
Also I think killing them is illegal in my state so I'd rather not break the law.

they're a pest. if you can lure them out and relocate them great, if you can do this without them spraying, even more impressive.

I've done this before. Getting them to leave on their own is infinitely easier than killing them and either dealing with the spray or digging their carcasses out of whatever hole they climbed into to die.

Had some last year. We let the babies get old enough and then scared them off by being aggressive everytime we saw them. Long range water gun did the trick

Skunks are based. We have some that hang out near our house at night. They're hard to scare off but aren't quick to spray you either, they're pretty confident. You leave them alone, they leave you alone.

Personally I'd let the babies grow up and they'll leave on their own. If the dog gets sprayed, not the end of the world. It'll teach him a good lesson.

Yeah, about that... Several years back my buddy had a family of raccoons coming round every night and climbing on the roof trying to get in the house, so he called the city animal control office.

They sent a guy out who confirmed there were raccoons and told my buddy he's come back in around SIX MONTHS and place some live traps around to catch them (and this was in Warren, the third largest city in Michigan).

My buddy went out and bought two of his own live traps and caught the raccoons, transporting them to the neighboring city (Sterling Heights, lol) and let them loose in a park.

Dunno what to do about skunks, as they'll spray the fuck outa you.

A friend's Norwegian Elkhound got sprayed by a skunk and despite multiple baths in tomato juice, it still (mildly) smelled like skunk months later.

because it aint the 1960s anymore and your food isnt made of what it use to be so grandpa's folk wisdom doesnt work anymore.

do some basic chemistry, get dish soap and baking soda mix it in warm water and give your dog a propper grooming.

daily reminder, every time you catch and release some vermin because 'u dont want to kill it uwu' you arent really solving the problem, you are just making it someone else's problem.

This. There's a really good chance that they'll die anyway. You're taking an animal with an established home range, stressing it out real good, and then dropping it into an area where it has no knowledge of good safe hiding areas or local food sources and expecting it to fight it out with the established population over territory and resources. And that's assuming it stays where it's at and doesn't just find its way back to where you caught it from.
